VETRI is the next iteration of the Procivis digital identity platform, which draws on the e-government platform eID+, also developed by Procivis. While the idea of anonymously matching the owners and buyers of high-quality data is not new, what is new is that VETRI delivers a solution that does not require a central business intermediary that needs to be paid for matching two parties: VETRI is a not-for-profit, open-source platform.
To better reflect the global essence of our project, the name VETRI is inspired by its meaning in multiple languages from different parts of the world. The word VETRI in Tamil, one of India’s most popular languages, means victorious. While in Italian, the word means glass. We believe that the brand VETRI captures our mission to give users full transparency over how their personal data is being utilized and celebrates the emergence of self-sovereign digital identity solutions.
